It all depends how you burrow, head down or put your back into it!
There can be significant variation in a trace fossil than you would normally get in body fossils. In trace fossils it can depend on what the animal is doing. This could change along the track, a common trait was for the animal to move slightly side to side as it furroughed. The lateral tracks can show this.
