In the 60s, Dr Tony Crimes of Liverpool University had been studying trilobite tracks, soon to be assisted by Joe Crossley
With his research and that of Prof Seilacher, it was obvious there was a need for the scientific community to swop notes about how trace fossils should be organised.
In January 1970 an International Conference was held at Liverpool University under the auspices of the Liverpool Geological Society. It was attended by 49 scientists from 18 countries.
Cruziana is found at a number of sites in Wales, but Cwm Grianiog in the Nant Ffrancon Valley stands out. Tony led an LGS field trip here in April 1970. The particular locations are 2000ft up a pretty steep scramble of broken rock, not for the faint hearted!
